Assignment 13: Wallwisher

What an amazing idea this is for the students and teachers alike. It allows for collaboration between others anonymously and publicly. I agree and plan to use as described by the wallwisher presentation, about how children do not want to ask or answer questions publicly. I think that this way the answer is asked and all the students can see it and the following answer, but no one knows who asked and there is no embarrassment of asking student. I know that as a student I was nervous to ask questions in class so I wish that there had been anonymity when I was in school.
One could think of this technology as the new and improved bulletin board of today.

Assignment 11: Mindmap

Mindmaps, well the uses I am sure are almost impossible to count. This future teacher can see this as a wonderful way to help students connect and organize ideas for writing assignments. This would also be a way for students to organize and differentiate between assignments for separate classes.
I can also see this being a help for teachers, seating plans to begin with. A mindmap would be a wonderful tool to help with lessons, keeping on track with what has been and what has not been lectured on and what area will be next in the lecture.
This is just to name the few that came to mind...maybe i should make a mindmap to organize my thoughts on how mindmaps could be used in the classroom.

Assignment 9: Wikis

Because Wikis are able to be altered students are able to change and add to the information posted to the class' wiki site. This allows for collaboration of ideas from each of the students in the class. I as the teacher would begin the text and ask for students to correct any mistakes they may see in what I have written or to add on to the information.
Also teachers could use wikis to help students organize idea or to discuss plans for assignments and classwork.

Assignment 9: Blogs I Follow

On Special Education

2. http://teachers.net/mentors/special_education/
Autism Help

Nyla Phillips-Martin

I follow these Blogs and I use google reader to follow them.
http://www.google.com/reader/
I found these blogs by first entering into google the word education. Then I added to that one word phrases such as Special education and Educational help. This brought up large numbers of lists of blogs and I honestly chose the ones that caught my eye first and sounded interesting.

Assignment 8: Altered Image.

I used yearbookyourself.com on this site I was able to take and image of myself and insert it into a template of a picture. My face became the face of someone from 1968. I was able to resize my image in order for my face to fit into the picture's face area. I was also able to flip my face so I am facing the opposite direction from my original image and I rotated my face slightly to give the illusion of the glasses sitting on my nose.http://www.yearbookyourself.com/

Assignment 7: Spell With Flickr

T letter e a letter C letter H

Assignment 6: Flickr

Pit Bull Awareness Day
This image was taken from Flickr it was shared by Luxus2D (no real name was shared). I choose this picture because I was a foster for a dog rescue in Kentucky called Wyndsor Adoptions. Pit bulls advocacy is a passion of mine, because I have two of the animals myself and I could never think of them being harmed or banned. Every October is National Pit Bull awareness Day! This picture was licensed as and attribute image, meaning that credit for the sharing of this image must be mentioned when I shared it. Which I did above.
While I searched through flickr I was able to search for the exact type of share licensing I wanted to be displayed as well as common words or phrases associated with tags of the images. This would be a helpful tool in my class room to show students the different types of licensing and explain how to use them. Flickr also has a vast search of items. These images seem to be more relevant to the entered search than some other image search engines I have toured.

Assignment 5: Video

Looking for a video to post here for our edu 3040 assignment, I thought about important areas for myself that would be of major importance and what would have useful information for my future profession. I found that it will be very beneficial for my to look these videos up long before I try to show them to my students as there are very rude and degrading comments visible as soon as you bring up the pages of some of these SPED videos. I think that the use of video in the classroom is helpful in many ways. We have always shown videos during class time, it just has not been as readily available until now.
Uses of video in the classroom...
  • presentation of information
  • some students are visual and audio learners and video incorporates both
  • integrates entertainment into educational values
And this is just to name a few advantages of video in the classroom.
My choice of video would be wonderful for someone wishing to go into special education like myself, in order to show these future teachers the interaction with this technology and student.

Assignment 4: Blogging

I am Mrs. Knepper and I attend Austin Peay State University. I am currently working toward a bachelor's degree in Special education. While I worked on the assignment of creating this blog I had fun with the customization of it. I love to show off my personality so this was fun. I thought about how I could use this thing called a "Blog" well in my classroom setting my student's parents and/or guardians would subscribe to my blog, this would give them a weekly or daily update of what was happening in the classroom. I could use it to announce upcoming projects and activities that parents should be aware of. I could also use a blog to help other teachers in my field see what I have been trying in my classroom and what techniques have been successful and which ones have not. A blog would also be beneficial to me in order for me to go back and see what I have tried in years past with success.
